When you guys were in the woods and you had the encounter with the wood elves and the spiders, did you start to give up hope because you were hungary and about to die from starvation and spiders.
(Gandalf) I cannot answer this blog because I was not there, but I did here about it and if I was there with them i would have gotten them food and saved them from the spiders with only one flick of my wand
(Thorin) Right you are Gandalf... LOL!! Anyway, I felt that i was on the verge of fainting from starvation. The days seemed to drag on forever. Yes I was starting to really give up hope at this point of the adventure. Then when the wood elves took me to their kings cave and kept prisoner I was devastated. Many thoughts ran threw my mind at this time like, " will I ever get out of here?" and " How will those stupid dwarfs and the foolish hobbit ever find me now?" These things made me lose hope even more so than i had already. I just needed some form of motivation of getting me out of this place alive but I never found any and I think thats what really made me lose hope. Sorry I got a little off topic but I wasn't there for the whole spider incident so I shared a story that really involved the factor of hope for me.
(Balin) I think that having no food almost inspired me because it made me want to get out of Mirkwood faster and gave me something to look forward to. I also think it made me a little crazy running to get food from the wood elves feast. Having no food actually gave me more hope because it gave me motivation to get out of Mirkwood and find more food. when the spiders caught us I kept thinking, how can I get out of this web. I had lost all hope at this point and then Bilbo came and saved us from the spiders and that gave me alot of hope because I knew that we had someone on our journey that could protect us, and himself. We had someone who would step up in times of need and save everyone and that gave me the most hope I could get.
(Thorin) WOW, Balin you are very crazy. I can't believe you found hope when we were all starving. I guess it just goes to show that you are a very optimistic person. That is a good trait to have because in times of need it could come in handy. But, you are still very crazy hahahaha.
(Bilbo) Well I had little hope about having no food because as you all know I eat alot of food during the day so it was a bit weird not having any at all. As for the spider attack, I thought to myself, I need to save my friends. And so when I had succeeded in doing that, I gained a ton of hoped to last me through the next couple of days. I lost some hope when I found that Thorin had gone missing because it gave me a huge slap on the face that, Thorin may be gone forever and we may never see him again. I had to grasp on to that hope I had just gained and use it to try and reasure myself that Thorin was going to be ok. That is how I got hope back.
(Throin) Well bilbo , I guess all that hope you had really did pay off in the end because I did get saved thanks to you. I guess hope can really help along the way of an adventure eh.
(Gandalf) Yes Thorin I believe that to be true because when i go on an adventure I find that hope and luck are 2 main factors in your survival. they can really take you along way in adventures and also they can help you in life, well mostly hope can help you through the bad times.
