When you guys were suffed into those really tight barrels, how did that feel? Did you think Bilbo was smart for making you guys do this? If you could have, what other method of transportation would you have used to get out of the elveking lair?
(Thorin) IT WAS AWFULL!!!!!!!!! It was like being shoved into a skinny pipe and staying in there for 2 years, that is what it compared to alright! I didn't like staying in that cramped spaced for too long, but I think it was a smart idea on Bilbo's part because i couldn't have thought of anything else at the time. Now, thinking about it...i still could not think of anything to do.
(Balin) Yes, I agree with Thorin that being stuffed into a tight barrel was quite awful. The worst part about it was that I had to smell apples for 2 days strait because that is the only other things that the barrels contained. I think that Bilbo did a great job helping us escape and the plan was very well thought out. I wouldn't have thought of a better plan. If I had to think of a better plan I would have come up with is to have bilbo gave each of us the ring to slip out of the cave and then he would transport it back to others and just walk to the lonely mountain... never mind.....I don't even know what I am saying LOL. Anyway, I think Bilbo was very brave and wise to do that for us.

Well being in the barrels for me was a much different story because i wasn't as uncomfortable as the others because I am smaller than them. I didn't really mind the ride all that much but I do think iI couldn't have had come up with a better plan at the time and currently to this day I still would not have been able to come up with anything better than the original plan I had.
(Gandlaf) I feel rather foolish because yet again I wasn't there to witness this plan. Anyway I am going to answer the questions based on what I collected from the others responses. I think that at the time it was probably the best plan you all were going to get. I think Bilbo was very smart for coming up with that all by himself. And no, I could not have thought of a better plan, seeing that I wasn't there. But if I was I probably would have used magic. I would not have been able to fit in those barrels either
